These days smartphones have such sophisticated cameras that most homeowners and agents just use their smartphones to capture photos of homes to add to listings. But that’s a mistake. Hiring a professional photographer is even more necessary today if you want to sell homes. Even though more people have access to high-quality cameras that doesn’t mean that all the photos you take of the homes you want to sell will be high-quality photos. Hiring a professional photographer with years of experience is the best way to get gorgeous photos that are going to sell a home.

Photographs Sell Homes

More than half of all home buyers search online for homes before contacting an agent. A whopping 99% of Millennial homebuyers check out online listings before deciding to see a home in person. If you want to sell a home to modern homebuyers you need to have photos of that home that are going to stand out among thousands of photos online. Those photos need to look fantastic on a variety of different platforms and they need to look good enough to stand up to the professional photos that buyers are used to seeing online and on apps like Instagram.

A professional photographer will know how to light a room to make it look open and bright or take advantage of the angles and curves of a room to show off the size of the room. And a professional photographer can take a challenging home like one that hasn’t been updated in twenty years and use great photos to show off the potential of the home or show off the retro kitsch value of the home.

Photographers that have experience photographing homes will also know how to find the unique charm and features of each home and play up those features in photographs that will really appeal to buyers. They can create artistic photos of the homes that you are listing that are much more likely to grab the attention of buyers than another boring digital photo of a room. Especially a photo that still has a digital date in the corner because you never figure out how to remove the date imprint. Or worse yet, a photo that was scanned from a print to a digital photo.

Listings That Pop

There’s a lot of advice floating around telling agents how to make their listings pop. Some of it is good advice, some of it isn’t. But really all you need to know in order to create listings that will grab a potential home buyer’s attention as they are surfing Zillow or Redfin or a site like that high-quality professional photographs are the best investment you can make if you want to sell homes.
