Tips For Selling Homes With Pools

You might think that selling a home with a pool would be easy, especially during the hot summer months. But for many potential buyers, a pool isn’t a bonus. They think of the upkeep that a pool requires, and the liability of having an attractive nuisance on the property instead of the summer afternoons spent swimming and lounging in the comfort of their own home. If you are representing sellers that are selling homes with pools here are a few ways that you can remind potential buyers how much of a bonus a pool can be:

Show the Cost of Maintaining the Pool

A simple and effective way to make buyers warm up to the idea of having a pool is to have on hand estimates from a few different pools and spa companies showing what it would cost to have regular maintenance done on the pool. Or show receipts from the current owner showing what they pay to maintain the pool. When buyers see that it actually doesn’t cost that much to have regular maintenance done on the pool they are more likely to embrace the idea of having a pool. If the pool has a new liner, a new pump or other new upgrades be sure to mention that as well. Also, you can try to convince the seller to convert the pool to a lower maintenance saltwater system. Salt water pools are very popular with buyers.

Stage the Pool Area

So, when you stage the outdoor area you should have some fun pool floats in the pool. And make sure there are plenty of comfortable deck chairs around the pool. A tin bucket full of ice and cold drinks, sunhats, and sunscreen arranged on tables along with cozy beach towels will make the pool area look ready for an afternoon swim. Plants and other accessories will also help turn the pool area into a place that will really wow buyers.

Stress the Benefits

Water therapy is very good for a number of health conditions. Make sure that you tell buyers about the benefits of water exercise for people who have chronic pain, arthritis, and other health conditions. Swimming laps and water exercises can be very helpful for people that want to lose weight or maintain their weight too. And there are a lot of other benefits of having a home with a pool as well like not having to pay for expensive passes to the public pool each summer and having a fantastic place to entertain friends and family as well as being able to get a great swimming workout at home.
