Summer sales season is just around the corner. But making older homes look bright and breezy during the summer sales season can be a challenge. Older homes can look dated and dingy to summer buyers that are dazzled by the openness of new construction homes. If you want to make older homes more attractive to summer buyers here are some creative ways to stage an older home during the summer:
Play Up Vintage Charm
Summer is a great time to play up the vintage charm of an older home. To make potential buyers look at an older home and see the great summers of their childhood you can use things like vintage style eyelet cotton curtains and vintage linens on bed and tables. It’s very easy to make tab top curtains from some simple cotton eyelet fabric or gingham fabric that will fit the style of the home while making it a lot more attractive.
If possible stage the house with vintage bed frames and furniture so that it has the charm and warmth of a peaceful farmhouse or summer cottage. Use new white linens in the bathroom and make sure that you set a summer feel by staging aloe gel, suntan lotion, and some fresh flowers in the bathrooms. Lilies of the Valley in a vase or simple plants will greatly enhance the feel of the space. 
Picnic Anyone?
Older homes usually have a lot more outdoor space than newer homes. Take advantage of that by adding an old-fashioned picnic table with a checkered tablecloth to the backyard. Serve lemonade and other summer favorites in old-fashioned glass pitchers during the open house. If you want to offer a modern take on traditional summer beverages during the open house try making some lavender lemonade or cold herbal tea to offer to prospective buyers. Make sure that the lawn is mowed and that the bushes and hedges are freshly trimmed to make the yard look tidy and inviting.

When the home has been professionally cleaned it will look brighter and more open and that will really appeal to buyers.
