Autumn can be a great time of the year for home sales. People that are looking for new homes want to get into that new home before the holidays so that they can entertain family and friends and have a great holiday season in a new home. So, in order to sell a home in the autumn, you should stage it for the holidays to show potential buyers how wonderful the holidays would be in that home. In the autumn when the weather gets cooler people are looking to draw inward and nest, so making a home look cozy and family friendly is a great way to get the attention of buyers. Here are some expert home staging tips to help you sell more homes this fall:
Dress the Table
Often people are not that excited by the idea of a formal dining room and it’s not usually a huge selling point. But in the fall, it really is, because people are thinking about the holidays that are just around the corner. So, in the fall it pays off to put some effort into staging the formal dining room well. Put in a buffet or a bar with wine and liquor and nice stemware. Create place settings for a formal holiday feast and set a place for every seat at the table so that buyers can see how many of their friends and relatives will be able to fit at the formal dining table. Sell the image of a magazine worthy family holiday dinner. It will make a big impression on buyers
Candles, Candles, Candles
In the fall there can’t be too many candles in the home. Pretty fall candles in deep reds, browns, and golds add to the coziness of the home and the colors create a great fall effect in the home. Just make sure that if you’re using scented candles the scents don’t class. Too much scent can be hard on buyers who may be sensitive to scents so if possible use one or two scented candles and the rest should have no scent. Candles in jars will look relaxed and cozy and will make the home feel comfortable to potential buyers who are looking through the house.
Be Careful with Scent
The scent is a fantastic way to stoke memories and makes a house feel like a home to buyers. But, chemical scents and cheap scents can be a real turnoff. If you want to use scent to enhance the décor and look of the home make sure that the scent is coming from something real and not some cheap air freshener. Actually, bake cookies or a pumpkin pie. Or simmer a pot of water on the stove and add a few cinnamon sticks, some clove, and some vanilla to the water to create a lovely seasonal fragrance.
