It is easy to overlook the importance of fixing up the yard when trying to sell a house. Most people think that mowing the grass is all they need to do. But the yard is the first thing that people see when come up to a property so it’s actually very important to make the yard look as good as possible. Here are a few ways to really make the yard appealing to buyers without spending more than about $100:

Get It Green

Lawn fertilizer treatments can revitalize a yard. Hiring a pro to come in and make the yard look lush and green and alive is a great way to make a yard more appealing to buyers. Especially in an area where the grass tends to look a little dull getting a fertilizer treatment is a smart idea. The more appealing and alive the grass looks the more it will appeal to any potential buyers that come to tour the property.

Lay Sod

Many homeowners have problems with dry, scraggly or bare patches of grass. This often occurs in areas that get heavy traffic like the areas surrounding a patio or the grass areas around a walkway. The quickest way to make those areas look great and appealing to buyers is to lay new sod pieces in those areas. It’s a quick and inexpensive way to make the entire lawn look better. When potential buyers walk up to the house or walk out on the patio and see bright green healthy grass they will have a much better overall impression of the home.

Planter Boxes

Planter boxes full of already blooming flowers are a cheap way to improve the look of the front lawn and the front of the house. They can be arranged easily around the doors, up and down the front walk, or along the front of the property to make the home really pop with color and vitality. Planter boxes are a fabulous way to improve curb appeal.

Fresh Mulch

Mulch can add a lot of interest to a home and disguise many flaws. Put down fresh mulch around bushes, around landscaping, and around paths in the front and the back of the house. Even fresh straw can help make a home look a lot more appealing to potential buyers.

Clear the Yard

Mowing the grass alone is not enough to make a yard area look great. Make sure that all the branches, dead pieces of bushes, and other debris are cleared out of the yard so that the entire yard looks neat and tidy. Weed any areas that have flowers. Sweep up leaves and droppings from the trees on the walkway or driveway. Hire someone to clean out dead branches and any other debris that makes the lawn look cluttered or unkempt.
