Some of the best rated parks are located in Stony Plain, Alberta—why not check them out for yourself this weekend?
There are three major parks in Stony Plain, but some of the best rated park spaces in Stony Plain aren’t limited to those designated as parks. Stony Plain also has a wide variety of green space to offer, including trails, playgrounds, and community gardens.
Stony Plain has three main parks: Rotary Park, Shikaoi Park, and Whispering Waters Park.
Rotary Park is easily on of the best rated parks in Stony Plain. Located just off the main entrance into town, the park features a pond, paved walking trail, playground, gazebo, picnic area, and large open-space green areas. In the spring and summer, you can take your kids to feed the ducks and geese, and in the winter the Town turns the frozen pond into a well-maintained skating area.
Shikaoi Park is another of the best rated parks in Stony Plain. A beautiful,  Japanese garden, the ornamental garden park features a pond, stream, and flowers in commemoration of the relationship between Stony Plain and the Shikaoi.
Whispering Waters Park is also on the list of best rated parks in Stony Plain. Located along Whispering Waters Creek, as well as along one of the hubs of the Town’s trail system, Whispering Waters Park is the perfect spot for summer barbeques and family outings. The park features a playground area, group shelter, and individual picnic areas.
But that’s not all Stony Plain has to offer.
The perks don’t end at the list of best rated parks in Stony Plain; Stony Plain also has an abundance of natural spaces and trails to choose from as well. The Willow Park Natural Area, for instance, offers a scenic, natural urban reserve amidst Stony Plain’s forested area. Featuring native grasses, trees, and shrubs, as well as many birds and small wildlife, the park can offer you a glimpse of all the natural beauty Stony Plain has to offer. The Willow Park Natural Area also connects to the Town’s 25km inter-linked trail network—a feature perfect for anyone who wants to get out there and enjoy all of Stony Plain’s outdoor beauty.
