Leduc Real Estate

Leduc MLS

Leduc was first created in 1899, when Robert Telford, a settler, purchased a land close to a lake which now bears his name. It is on this piece land that the new settlement was established. Telford formerly served as an officer for the North-West Mounted Police, and soon after he became Leduc's first postmaster, the very first general merchantman and the first justice of peace. The introduction of the Calgary & Edmonton railroad, eventually developed by the CPR, opened up the area to settlement. The very first train stopped at Leduc in July 1891.

Based on common local history , the city's name was chosen in 1890 when a settler (McKinley) establishing a telegraph office wanted a name for the new settlement and he then made a decision that it would be named after the first person that came through the door of the telegraph office.
